In May 2023, we rented a one-room apartment in Bahga Palace 5 in Hurghada for one year at a price of 7,000 EGP. Hossam, the young man who rented the apartment to us, promised to prepare a rental contract in my name for a period of one year. The conditions included payment of a deposit in the amount of a month's rent. At first he made a good impression on us; upon arrival we asked for a mop with a bucket for cleaning the floor, a pot and pan, and cutlery. Apartment #41 is quite large, bright, but very cluttered. There is a lot of empty space, not thought out in any way from the point of view of architecture and life. The impression was that it was unfinished: in the bathroom there is completely no fence near the shower area, so that when taking a shower, all the water splashes all over the bathroom. Sliding windows do not close all the way because the locks do not match. In the kitchen, the sink is not fixed to the countertop, etc. There is even some kind of stucco on the outside of the house, but from the point of view of the convenience of living in an apartment, it has not been thought out. Water is included in the rental, electricity is replenished at the meter by card. The gas cylinder is paid for by the tenant. There are two communal washing machines in the basement, but when one of them broke, no one did anything. To wash clothes, you had to wait in line. Dormen usually doesn’t exist at all; finding him is problematic, although there is no need to do this, since everything is decided by the owner. We still didn’t understand who this owner was after living here for seven months. It’s very uncomfortable to live because no one really takes care of the house; crushed cockroaches can lie on the stairs for a week. In apartment #31 every night! , sometimes until eight in the morning, the disco is roaring, yelling, screaming, loud conversations do not allow you to fall asleep. Repeated appeals to the same Hossam led to nothing. So forget about peace and sleep at Bahga Palace 5. In general, Bahga Palace 1, 2, 3, etc. are the names of houses belonging to this one family, their office is located in the house at number 1 on Metro Street. I categorically did not like the very bad attitude towards the Russians on the part of the owners. With visible kindness and cordiality, they only want money, they love it to the point of frenzy. However, they behave more than strangely. Firstly, Hossam deceived us right away - he provided us with a “yearly” contract in Arabic, but in fact indicated a period of three months. He knew we didn't speak Arabic and took advantage of it. We discovered this deception only in December, when a bank employee informed us that the contract was overdue and translated the terms into English for us. Secondly, before the December 2023 payment, he demanded £2,000 more, and reported this immediately after we extended the visa. Otherwise, we had to vacate the apartment on December 26th. Living conditions had not improved in any way; the nightly orgies in the apartment on the floor below were very exhausting. On December 26 at 11:58 am I texted Hossam. We packed our things, found another apartment, but no one returned the deposit to us, no one came for the keys. In the evening, as good tenants, we paid £7,000 by bank transfer and also topped up the electricity meter by £100. At night the doorman turned off our lights, we turned on the machine at the meter again. Then the next day Hossam showed up on WhatsApp and said that everyone was now paying 9,000. I reminded him that we agreed on 7,000, and it doesn’t matter to me how much others pay. After which a mocking message was sent to me: “Welcome abroad.” During the day and the next night, our electricity was cut off multiple times, disrupting our remote work via the Internet, as our computers also went offline. They demanded that we vacate the apartment! Having received money from us at that time in the total amount of 10,000 pounds!!! The next morning we were forced to contact the police. Only their intervention made it possible to bring some sense into the lovers of easy money. The police forced Hossam to stop extortion, stop threats and blackouts, provide an apartment for a month paid in advance, and return the deposit upon departure. Summarizing this experience, I can say that if you are ready for the inappropriate actions of the owners, if you are ready to spend your holiday surrounded by nightly rumbling discos and orgies, if you are ready to stand in line to wash your clothes, if you are ready that your deposit will never be returned to you and you may be thrown out you on the street immediately after receiving your rent, welcome to Bahga Palace 5. And more advice for all renters in Hurghada. Never give money to Egyptians in cash, because then you won’t prove anything, transfer by bank transfer, take receipts in English. This will help you a lot later when talking with government officials. Egyptians never return the deposit that you pay at the beginning, so when looking for a rental, add the amount of the deposit to the monthly amount. Check the contract in Arabic carefully, use translators or ask knowledgeable people to translate, as you will definitely be deceived. Be prepared for inappropriate behavior on the part of the landlord. And don’t leave this unanswered, immediately contact the police (located opposite the airport, to the right, you need to go there, and not call the place!). I do not recommend this house, or all the houses Bahga Palace 1,2,3, etc., owned by this greedy family.
