Excellent hospitality of staff

I made a reservation with this pousada but have to cancel because my flight schedule change. I have 5 hours layover in Sao Luis and no place to leave my luggage. I try to visit pousada and explain my situation. The son of the owner Marcos Jr immediately say no problem to leave my luggage in the pousada even though I cancel. my reservation. He is a very pleasan looking young man and kind, polite. I really wish I can stay the pousada because such hospitality really make tourist happy to stay here. Marcos jr even call a uber for me to the airport. It is a very nice pousada and right in the Sao Luis historical center. Highly recommend !

In the center of São Luis.

For a short stay it is interesting, however the towels in the room are old, small and do not serve their purpose perfectly.
Room was clean, but the bed mattress left something to be desired. Luckily I was very tired and it didn't affect my sleep.

Horrible. Do not go.

Unfriendly morning employee, only him doing reception, cleaning, cooking, administration and poorly done, of course.
Confusion in leasing via App, whoever manages it doesn't do it right. I ran the risk of not staying.
Horrible room. Rust, infiltration, hard mattress (duvet used to soften), faulty air conditioning, everything old, worn out bed linen and towels.
I waited 30 minutes for breakfast items to be replenished (cafe opened at 7:30 and I arrived at 8:00).

Run Down

Stayed here for 2 nights while passing through Sao Luis. This place is located in the old town city center next to the nice Catarina Mina stairs. The staff don't speak English but were friendly enough. My room was small, dirty, and had no windows. Mold was everywhere, the sheets were disgusting, and there was hair everywhere. The AC made a loud noise at night so I did not sleep well. This place was cheap, but if you want some place nice, stay somewhere else.

Homelike comfort and attention

A super Pousada, well located in the Historic District of Sao Luis, well appointed, clean, comfortable, and good value.
The hosts are what makes the place particularly special. Inacio went out of his way to make me feel comfortable, even getting up early to make my breakfast before time, as I had early flights, and giving me coffee and cake to speed an unearthly departure time.
Language was not a problem, as both English and German spoken, apart from Portuguese.
Sao Luis is the gateway to Lencois Maranhenses, which, according to me, is a must-see in Brazil. and Pousada Catarina Marina is an ideal place, not only for the trip to Lencois, but to explore Sao Luis itself.
