The true Marekech experience in a Fantastic Riad

A perfect sanctuary after a day in the medina the staff Julie ,Ali and Abdul were very attentive and helpful going above and beyond to help and advice me and my friend. The Riad was in a great location and had a luxurious feel within the walls the tiles and woodwork were a pleasure to see . The pool on the roof terrace although small was clean and tidy and they provided towels .And the breakfast was good and homely. We both enjoyed our stay and would recommend this Riad .

MAISON DO, my home in Marrakech

Hello, I never wrote a review about anywhere I stayed. But today, just arrived in Spain, I have to do it. Thank you Julie and thank you Abdou. And thank you to all the people who attended us so closely and professionally. We felt at home all week. We really liked the Service, the Cleanliness and everything... We loved the neighborhood, everyone treated us with great affection and respect, children, young and old... Ah! And you don’t have to go downtown to enjoy the call to prayer in the sunset...from the pool of Riad Maison Do... it’s spectacular. We'll be back, jewel.

Location and staff top, the rest a flop

Abdul and his team are very friendly and helpful. Location near Jemaa el Fna is very good.
But the value for money is not right here at all. The photos on Booking look like they were taken from the opening and with a stinging angle. The current state is clearly down.
Windows and room door resemble a cupboard door without a door frame and have a gap of at least 3 cm and are therefore open and you never feel like living in a closed room, so it is extremely cold and those looking for privacy will not find it here. I've never seen doors like this. Are more likely to be locks than doors without lock and handle, which are closed with a padlock. The outdated mobile heating was turned off by the staff each time, so the room never got warm. Especially the bathroom radiated a radiant cold to the bone, as everything is tiled and has no heating. The room is also rather dark, the curtains are too small, which also did not provide sufficient privacy.
The bathroom is a disaster: no bracket for the shower head, no shower curtain, rusted fittings, etc. The faucet on the sink is so sharp-edged due to the corrosion and the distance to the basin is so small that when washing the hands you involuntarily injured your hands on the faucet.
Breakfast was below average compared to other hotels in the same category and you got the open jams from the predecessor.
Conclusion:
Significantly overpriced compared to two other hotels of the same price range. Reasonable would be a maximum of about 30 € per night in winter.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We have carefully noted your comments.
However, we are genuinely surprised by the excessive and, in some respects, inaccurate nature of several statements in your review.
First of all, we would like to clarify that our property is a traditional riad located in the medina, and not a modern hotel. Its architectural features (doors, windows, materials and layout) are typical of local Moroccan riads and are clearly visible in all the photos published on Booking.com, as well as described in our listing. At no point do we claim to offer a modern or newly built accommodation.
Regarding temperature and heating, portable heaters are available upon request, in line with local practices. It is absolutely not our policy to turn off heating intentionally, and no formal complaint or request was reported to the reception during your stay.
Concerning the bathroom, we firmly deny any allegation suggesting a safety issue. No incident or injury was reported during your stay, and all facilities are regularly checked and maintained. Had any specific issue been raised on site, it would have been addressed immediately.
As for breakfast, it fully corresponds to the category of the establishment and local standards. All products are monitored daily, and the claim that items were left by a “former owner” is entirely unfounded.
Finally, our pricing is fully consistent with the exceptional location, personalized service, and current market rates near Jemaa el-Fna square. The rate is clearly displayed, accepted and paid prior to arrival.
While we regret that your personal expectations were not met, our riad continues to receive very positive feedback for its hospitality, authenticity and prime location, as reflected in many recent reviews.
We remain open to constructive feedback, but we cannot leave clearly disproportionate statements unanswered.
Kind regards,
Management

Beware there are 2 hotels in this group

This was a nice riad that we booked for 4 nights and infact we are still here.
Beware there are 2 properties that cover this establishment. The photos you will see on their pages are from the hotel side with the exception of the roof terrace. One is beautiful and well staffed, maintained and fresh smelling. The other is definitely the poor relation and unfortunately this is where we were placed.
Crockery is all cracked and chipped, breakfast was at best adequate . We were left to eat the jams and butter from previous guests leftovers and the seating area is all one table to sit around so other guest have to stand up to allow access to other side. Today we went down to breakfast and it was all packed away and no staff available.
We went to the other venue and what a difference. Clean new plates and cups and a. Proper table and chairs rather than a settee. I could go on!!
Apparently when you book your room it has a name and that denotes where you end up. We asked to move and were told it was fully booked.
The staff are lovely and helpful especially Julie. She offered to print our boarding passes and a taxi to airport which was very kind. So no complaints there. Sadly it just did not meet our expectations.
Just think it should be clear what you are booking online.

Thank you for your feedback. I’m sorry to hear that your stay didn’t meet your expectations. We have two distinct spaces within our property, and I understand the importance of making this clearer online—we’ll work on that.
I appreciate your comments on breakfast and tableware, and I’ll address these issues with our team. I’m glad Julie provided great service, and I’ll ensure improvements are made so every guest has a seamless experience.
