The experience at The Detroit Club was elegant. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in downtown Detroit. The spa was very relaxing. My wife and I will definitely be staying there again

Underwhelming and disappointing

This is the most underwhelming hotel stay I have ever had. We attempted to stay for our 10 year anniversary. It was a Sunday the bar and restaurant were closed. We had to walk to get food/drink. The hotel staff was VERY inconvenienced by our arrival and was almost non-existent. We got there early for the spa and the guy almost yelled at us that check in wasn't until 3. At check in and check out there was no thank you for choosing us, it was all business here is your room key. The room was a "Luxury King". There was NOTHING luxurious about this room. It was small and dingy. The room was $370 for the night, the biggest waste of my husband's hard earned money. Stay far away from this hotel, it is NOTHING SPECIAL. We actually walked to the Westin and had better service getting food and drinks there.

Beautiful Boutique Hotel

Husband and I stayed for one night in a luxury King room (it was labeled a suite but really wasn’t a suite).
Pros: Great location, easy to get to.
Every employee we encountered was lovely and very hospitable! Great customer service from Valet to check in/out to Bohemia to the Bar.
The Hotel is beautiful. Stunning details and character. Our room was very clean. Shower was hot with great water pressure. Dinner at Bohemia was good although a little overpriced. The whole place had a great vibe.
Negatives: The pillows and bed were very uncomfortable. Hard to describe but the pillows were almost full of air and you can’t really get them to lay right. The mattress was very hard and uncomfortable. We did hear a lot of noise as our room was on the second floor close to the stairs that open to the main floor where music was going on. We also heard a lot of noise from outside and from the resident bird early in the morning. This wasn’t a deal breaker but bring a white sound machine if you are sensitive to noise. We probably wouldn’t return unless there were different mattresses- no fun to get away but not sleep well due to beds being uncomfortable.

Upon pulling up there was no valet outside so we just parked out front, later told there was a valet and he would park our car.... but still first impressions. We checked in, and went to our room to find that it was at 63 with the AC running, Mind you it is March and 54 outside. Went back to front desk and was told "since it is an old building a bunch of the rooms are controlled together. Someone else complained they were hot. We can give you a space heater" after asking to speak to a manager, who could not be located, another gentleman found a solution and we got heat running. The bar tender was amazing and bought us drinks for the inconvenience. Overall it is an interesting place, the experience got better between the bartender and the woman working the checkout but we would not return. Oh- and window in the room was painted shut. Not a safe or good feeling!

Loud

I travel a lot and I would never stay here again as I was in town for a conference…so early mornings. The hotel has a bar and live music which makes it impossible to sleep - at least if you are on the second floor. The crowds of loud drunk people finally cleared out just before midnight but the staff is cleaning up - so its 12:56 and there are still people (staff) talking and moving around downstairs. The doors are very thin so you can hear everything in the hallway as well as the noise from people walking up and down the stairs. It is obvious the location of this room is problematic and should you decide to stay here - do not stay on the second floor. The first 2 nights of the stay - sleep was interrupted but tonight it’s next to impossible. I spoke to a manager who was not able to move me as the hotel is booked. The hotel is clean, the bed is pretty hard and the temperature of the room is hard to regulate. The hair dryer is smaller than my hand and it took forever to dry my hair. It also took the man at the front desk 40 mins to check our group of 5 in. He stopped multiple times to assist people who were eating at the restaurant pay for their valet parking - while we waited. There are a lot of other choices in the area - I would suggest looking elsewhere.
