Friendly

We stayed in the Kings Arms and could not have been anymore welcome. The pub is the heart of the village and all the locals use it. The pub is dog friendly and clean, the accommodation is clean and our room was large. Nothing is too much trouble, very reasonable room rate. Scott and Shelley are the new owners and have loads of energy. They are such lovely friendly welcoming people. A stay here is a must!
We went to the Royal Oak to eat on two nights and the food was gorgeous!! Home made generous portions, very nice environment and very clean.

Ideal base to stay for touring around Cornwall. Good luck Kevin

Kevin was very accommodating to our needs as we hadour dog with us, very friendly staff. Thanks to Marie and Rob the rooms are lovely and clean. Will be recommending it to friends. Perfect place to use as a base for travelling around Cornwall.

Some class!

Music nights are excellent, but it needs a clear identity.
Lostwithiel has The Kings Arms, Royal
Oak, The Globe, Earl of Chatham and Social Club - none of them have a distinct voice.
We are crying out for a classy pub for when you want a quality glass of wine, some classy snacks or small plates, and people a bit dressed up and just smart.
I love a boozer, but also want quality too - why can’t we get this is a beautiful old twin like Lostwithiel?

Ideal for the centre of Lostwithiel

Lovely friendly staff and unlike previous review I found them very helpful when I needed to cancelled one of my planned two nights. I wasn't charged at all and everything was fine. The pub itself is a bit rough and ready, but we didn't mind that. The room we had was right at the top up several windy, narrow staircases, so be prepared if you are arriving with lots of luggage. It was very nicely decorated and the bed was lovely and comfy. The room was a bit small though and we were warned that the TV wasn't working. Not a problem for us as we didn't need it, we were busy all evening at the Gin Festival (I can completely recommend this annual festival!) The thing that let this room down was the heat, it got very hot in the night, and the fact that there were old windows which let in all the noise from outside.

Staff pretend to care

This hotel has friendly staff, but they will not lift a finger to help you, even if the cost to them is zero, and their inaction results in significant cost to you.
The Kings Arms accepted my booking via Booking.com. However, I quickly realised my error and requested cancellation, via Booking.com, and by contacting the hotel directly. Booking.com said refund was subject to the hotel agreeing, and the hotel staff were very helpful and friendly, quickly confirming they were happy to give me a full refund.
After no refund, I contacted them again to ask if they could verify this to Booking.com. They failed to do this, and I requested again. And again. And again several times a month for 6 months. They continually said they would, but failed to give Booking.com any kind of verification. All they needed to do was send a single message in writing saying they had verified the refund.
In summary, they are either complete liars who pretend to have decency, or they are too incompetent to send a single one-sentence message to Booking com.
If you ever need your booking updated or changed, you can probably count on Kings Arms Hotel to ignore any request you may have.
