Fantastic, Zen Swahili Themed Hotel

I absolutely enjoyed my stay at Red Pepper. My room was always Clean. The Food was very good and Fresh. I enjoyed a guided Lamu Town Tour and a sunset dhow cruise. The Staff managed by Joseph were so helpful and Professional. Many to Aisha and Kasena for the personalised Service and making sure I was always comfortable. Definitely coming back for a longer stay.

Highly Recommended - a real gem.

Wonderful hotel, from the moment you walk up the beach to be greeted by the staff - who are all so helpful and welcoming.
There are only 5 rooms, and we were the only ones stay, so had full attention of the staff.
The rooms are lovely individual cottages, which may be a little limited for space inside, but with lots of private outside space this isn't a problem. There's no air conditioning, but large fans provide some draught.
Our setting for breakfast and dinner was a surprise each day, and the food was really good.
Everything clean and tidy too, plus complimentary laundry service.
The manager, Joseph, took us on a tour of the local town, which was really informative and interesting.
Thanks to all the other staff too; Asha, Kasena, Alfred, Munawar, Janet, Shehka and Vincent.

Wonderful place to relax and discover.

After a safari through the national parks in Kenya and Tanzania, we booked another 4 days of Lamu at Red Pepper House in early March to explore the island. The Red Pepper Houase exceeded our expectations. The accommodation is just north of the old town and is ideal if you were looking for peace and quiet and want to avoid the crowds in Lamu Old Town or the hustle and bustle of beach holidaymakers in Shela. Particularly noteworthy is the attentive and friendly staff of the complex, which makes the stay very pleasant. The cook also understands his craft. Breakfast and dinner were taste and visually a highlight.

A few days of pure pleasure

We had such a good stay here. The views are wonderful, the rooms are so comfortable and the staff are excellent. We had great trips on the House dhow - the sundowner and the day trip to a beautiful beach. We also had a very good guided tour of Lamu town. The staff are amazing. They did a musical evening for us, and all came down to the beach to say goodbye as we left. This is absolutely the lace to stay on Lamu

Complete relaxation with wonderful staff

We had an extremely relaxing two night stay at the Red Pepper House in February 2024. All the staff led by manager, Joseph, ensured we were very well looked after, from the meeting by boat at the airport jetty to the goodbye wave from the beach. It is a small boutique hotel in a quiet location away from the town and other hotels. The award winning architecture makes for perfect surroundings and comfort. It is very quiet with only 5 rooms each with private outdoor space overlooking the beach. We were awoken each morning by the call to prayer and the braying of donkeys. For one night we were the only guests which gave Joseph time to take us on a boat trip and walking tour of Lamu town, a fascinating couple of hours. Would highly recommend for complete relaxation, beautiful surroundings and wonderful staff. Thank you Joseph, Kassena, Asha, Alfred, Captain and all the team.
