Fabulous.

We loved our stay and the team is exceptionally kind. The welcome was really remarkable. The rooms may not be perfect but they are endearing and sufficient. The private Onsen of the riverside room is really nice. A kif!
We opted for dinner for Shabu Shabu. It was exceptional. They also have a remarkable cellar.
There was no western breakfast, but they made the effort to offer us something close. It’s really one of the best stops of our three-week stay in Japan and the Niigata region is beautiful! We were with our two teenagers and we all loved it. I really recommend! Many thanks to the whole team.

As a repeat customer, I am looked after two to three times a year.

I live in the neighborhood and have been using it from time to time for several years. I'm happy with the food, the liquor, the hot springs, the forty-seven rooms. The response of the owners and staff has been amazing and always soothing. Nowadays, my wife asks me to pair sake, and my wife asks me to pair wine, and we share both. (It may be a breach of manners, isn't it?) I think it would be fun to have a pairing with less sake, or a mixed wine-sake pairing.

Authentic holiday

It was his fourth visit.
Hot water, food, rooms and hospitality are all genuine.
The marriage of local gastronomy and sake, which you can only get here, is a surprise every time, but you can enjoy it slowly after taking a bath and take another bath before bed.
A beautiful breakfast with the bounty of the mountains is unusual, even for ordinary tomatoes! I feel the thoughtfulness that is carefully examined.
This time, I stayed in my room because of rain, but I went in and out of the medicinal bath source of my room while watching the mountain green and moist rain. The rough skin has healed completely.
It was a blissful holiday in my Quiet Luxury room, watching movies and reading books.
I can't wait for the next one!

Experience high quality spa resort, wonderful cuisine and experienced and delightful staff in Tokamachi, Japan

Among the amazing qualities about Tamakiya are its staff, the food, the rooms and most definitely, the wonderful onsen water that blesses the Matsunoyama area.
First, the staff — courteous, competent, warm & friendly, thoughtful… I could go on! It’s always a joy to watch people good at their work, do that work.
The food is amazing. Pairing courses on offer by the Michelin-level hospitality offer you the chance to experience their expert level knowledge of (for example) Japanese sake paired with multiple course French cuisine dinner .. I love it every time I go!
The rooms are all different, with different points to appreciate, that cover a range of pricing. All rooms are comfortable, modern interior designed and have a private outdoor bath space... I’d stay a full week if I could!!
The actual onsen water of the region is famous in Japan as one of the country’s most well-known ‘medicinal’ onsen spas, and for over 800 years has served as a healthful and natural remedy for countless visitors. Tamakiya combines the restorative qualities of the water with their specialized hospitality and service to provide its guests with a wonderfully satisfying getaway experience!

If you go to Niigata, this is definitely the place!

We found and Reservationed this inn as an inn where you can enjoy delicious rice and Niigata sake, but it exceeded our expectations. The sake and rice, as well as the hot springs and the space itself were wonderful, and I was happy with all the information that came in through my five senses.
