A slick operation.......

After the train trip to this lovely town, we were looking forward to staying at this hotel, as we had booked Dinner Bed and breakfast deal. We must say it did not disappoint. From the moment we checked in we felt a warm welcome from the staff in all areas. The room was spacious and comfy, though the beds are on the firm side. The view from the room was over the main street of Ballinasloe, and the christmas lights were very pretty. The water pressure in the shower was excellent and the toiletries were pleasant to use. The three course dinner was a feast, huge portions, (country style substantial cooking), it was a Saturday night and the restaurant was packed, but they had found us a pleasant table for two in an alcove, the service was attentive. Breakfast the following morning was well done. A big bonus was they had heated the plates which kept our hot breakfast hot. A satisfactory stay and a good package.

Brief stay but good

A comfortable room in a convenient location. Dinner in the hotel restaurant was excellent - salmon for me, cod for my husband. Staff very friendly and helpful. Mentioned to our waiter that we were looking for interesting local sites. A young man came over with information on some things of interest that were not at all on our radar. We took his suggestions of Clanmacnoise, an ancient religious site, and Portumna Castle and really enjoyed both. Turned out to be a member of the Gullane family who took the time to gather info and talk to us about it. Thanks, Graham!

Lovely Stay

We 3 Ladies from Co Meath stayed for 2 nights in this lovely comfortable hotel. The Receptionists on Check In was very nice and welcoming, we got a very nice welcome from Tom the Owner who carried the bags to the Rooms. My Room was Accessible both Rooms were do clean a credit to the Housekeeping Team. We went down for Dinner lovely choice on the Menu, large Portions, The Pavlova is the best one I had since my late Mothers. Next morning Breakfast was nice the Waitress on Duty was pleasant my friend asked for Poached Eggs with Boxty could not be got. Why have something on a Menu and not be able to get it. We enjoyed our 2 Nights Stay and we will come back to Gullanes again. Thanks Tom and Staff. The Trim Girls.

Friendly Staff

Very friendly bar and floor staff. We were a larger group with children and found this hotel bar very accommodating.
Whilst the carvery was good value for portion size, it was a little disappointing as the beef was tough. The kids raved about the chocolate brownies and ice cream for dessert.

ok for a quick stop over

We booked here to meet friends for a meal just after Christmas.
Ample parking off street which is good.
Hotel was tidy and check in was quick and simple.
Room was a decent size and clean.
Food was good and couldn't fault all the young men in the bar there a lovely bunch of lads.
The down side however was I believe the time we stayed.
I believe the hotel is closed for a few days over Christmas.
It was freezing everywhere, I returned to our room to get a coat while we had dinner and drinks.
The room was baltic..heating was turned off.
Even when we got it on it went off around 11.30 as we returned to the room.
We had to take the 2nd duvet off the spare bed to use it was so cold.
Breakfast was just ok but one of the biggest issues was the noise of the plumbing in the room and the cleaning staff.
From about 9pm consistently banging and talking loudly in the halls.
And this wasn't a cheap stay either €189 for 1 night is ridiculous for the stay we had.
Unfortunately couldn't recommend and wouldn't stay again. "
