Good place for short stay.

The hotel was great, the check-in with the key code worked well. There is no reception there, which did not bother us further. We spent 2 nights there. The location was good, the center is within walking distance in a few minutes. We also had a rental car, parking in front or behind the hotel was always available.

Nice room, terrible (non existing) service

Mixed feelings about this place.
Our room was on the ground floor, it was very spacious and bathroom looked really nice. Comfortable bed. It is located about 15-20 mins walk from city center, which was good exchange for the lower price.
But...
There was no personnel at all at the location. We got a code by an email to enter the room, and once our code didn't work, and we had to call Aska services, and they had terrible phone reception at the hotel and I couldn't hear anything they said on the phone. With some time trying to explain them in the phone that our code didn't work, we were able to get it working.
Then we requested cleaning for the room, well our towels and trash were taken away, but we didn't receive new hand towels, only big towels. And no toilet paper! We were out of it and I called them in the evening when we got back to the room about needing refill of the toilet paper and the cleaner hadn't provided it. The lady on the phone was very polite and tried her best to help, but she had to call elsewhere and work several angles to finally be able to provide the paper for us (which I had to fetch from 3 floors up).
Our room was on the ground floor, and every time someone opened the main door to the corridor, the door closed with a huge bang and the whole outside wall and windows rattled with the sound. We woke up several times per night for that loud bang.
Overall, can't recommend this place. Rooms were nice, but service quality was really bad.

The sound insulation is very poor, I don't know where the water leaks at night, my friends and I didn't fall asleep until three o 'clock in the morning, and the door of the building outside is also shaken every time it is closed. The floor stinks like you cleaned the bathroom and then you cleaned the bedroom

Excellent stay! My only complaint would be that the ice around the parking lot area was very slippery and could have used some salt to make it safer.

Great hotel if you’re staying in the Reykjavik area. It is extremely close to the downtown area, probably a 20 minute walk. If you go during winter, bring good shoes for ice as it may be difficult to clean the ice and it can be a bit slippery. The hotel does offer free parking, but it it is first come first serve, so keep that in mind! All in all, Aska hotel was great and very prompt in their message with all the details on how to get there and have access to the hotel itself.
