Decent food, great breakfast, so-so room

Neroth is a great place to stop if you are hiking. The hotel and cafe are central to the village.
The room was small, but fine. Internet was OK. The bedding was too short for me (192), which made the night rather uncomfortable.
Dinner was OK, breakfast was better. It is a classical restaurant, which has not fully understood yet that vegetarians exist.
Staff is super nice and friendly.

Actually a must stop for Eifelsteig hikers

Came there as a hungry and tired hiker and this cosy place fixed me up with good food and fine drinks. The room I got was a small single, but very efficient and absolutely clean. Good breakfast buffet. The kind of place you would like to come back to.

Good price/performance quality

We stayed for 2 days and found the place to be charming (it has an informal setting so don't expect design rooms or slick waiters) both in its rooms, terrace and restaurant. Service was good, the food was a bit too greasy for our critical non-sugar, limited processed foods approach, but I still enjoyed it and would not hesitate to eat there again.
We had a small room yet with a spacey bathroom which I appreciated very much.
When faced with a broken bike they had a repair toolset handy and we were allowed to put our bikes in one of their small garages.
The outside garden terrace is very charming and though there were non when we were there I imagine a great playing environment for children (though careful with the water that runs through the garden.
The bed was not high quality (springs) yet somehow we both slept very well in it (which surprised me). The village Neroth is extremely small small doesn't have a supermarket or such so expect to head for Daun for any of that or going out to eat outside the hotels restaurant.

Excellent location, good value for money, quality food

We have just returned from a short-stay in the region and had two nights at this hotel, having stayed for an overnight stop last year and were pleased so it was top of the list for a return visit.
It takes about 20 minutes from the nearest motorway exit. You can't miss the hotel, right on the high street, painted yellow like a huge block of cheese in keeping with the traditional heritage of the establishment, which boasts a "mouse-trap" theme and is in the Guinness Book of Records for the largest functional mouse-trap (located at the top of the garden at the rear of the restaurant).
Ample parking, friendly welcome, clean and tidy. The restaurant offers a good selection of freshly prepared evening meals with sensibly priced wines. The bar is very rustic and cosy, and extends to an upper loft area. There is a new exterior terrace and conservatory leading to the garden, with an attractive stream, additional seating and activities for the younger guests.
Animal lovers will be happy to stay here, the resident dog and cat are good company and the occassional duck, chicken and other creatures appear from time to time!!
The traditional buffet breakfast we had last year is now replaced by waitress service, but it's no trouble to ask to change things that are brought if you dislike one thing or another. It's possibly one way of controlling the inevitable waste from buffets.
The hotel also boasts its own bakery and you can't help but notice the attractive selection of gateaux as you enter the bar/hotel reception.
There is a wellness spa as part of the establishment - book in advance if you wish to have any treatments etc. as the service is provided by a third party and the spa was often closed when we looked in. We were unable to get a suitable slot during our stay.
The hotel is convenient for local tourism - walks in the Eifel region, Gerolstein, or trips to neighbouring Belgium and Luxembourg, shopping in Trier or Wittlich or just to chill-out. It seems to be in a region with frequent rainfall, so take suitable clothing!
This hotel would have received a 5* rating from us if free wi-fi had been available in the bedroom. Sadly this is only available in the cafe/bar.
